James Hodge of Saratoga Springs Helping Restore Hurricane-Ravaged New Orleans Neighborhood

2017 Mar 30

The College of Saint Rose is proud that James Hodge of Saratoga Springs, New York, is one of 13 Saint Rose students who spent an Alternative Spring Break in New Orleans helping citizens of the city continue to rebuild in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

James and the 12 other students volunteered with lowernine.org in the Lower Ninth Ward, one of the hardest-hit parts of the city. From March 6 through March 10, they helped rehabilitate a home in what remains the most devastated neighborhood in New Orleans.

This is the 12th consecutive year that Saint Rose students have given their vacation to help with hurricane relief. All of the students volunteered their time; they were not paid for their work nor earned any class credits.

Thank you, James!
