Ashley Cirone of Pleasant Valley Attends National Geology Conference

Ashley Cirone of Pleasant Valley, a junior at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, is one of eight students from Saint Rose who attended the 2012 Geological Society of America Annual Meeting and Exposition held recently in Charlotte, N.C. The meeting provided the students with the opportunity to participate in an array of technical sessions, field trips and short courses and to network with more than 6,000 geoscientists from throughout the world.

In addition, Cirone presented her research, "Sediment Record from a Bog on the Trujillo Meadows Landslide (>10.6 Ka), Southeastern San Juan Mountains, Southern Colorado," with Dr. Jacqueline A. Smith of The College of Saint Rose, Dr. Bradley G. Johnson of Davidson College in North Carolina and Dr. John A. Diemer of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Cirone is majoring in geology at Saint Rose.
