Addison Todd of Chittenden Spends Spring Break Fixing Up Needy Homes and Church Camp in Florida's Palm Beach County

2014 Mar 10

The College of Saint Rose is proud that Addison Todd of Chittenden, Vermont, is one of nine Saint Rose students who spent an Alternative Spring Break in Palm Beach County, Fla., helping fix up homes for homeowners who lack the physical or financial ability and a camp for youth.

Addison and the eight other students spent the week working with the "Paint Your Heart Out" program of Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County. The team used recycled paint donated by the county waste management agency to paint the homes of four qualified homeowners in West Palm Beach. To qualify, homeowners must be disabled, low income or elderly. In addition, the Saint Rose team helped fix up a church camp for youth in the adjacent community of Lake Worth.

The United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches served as the students' "home away from home" during their stay in Florida.

The nine students departed Albany Sunday, March 2, and returned Saturday, March 8.
